Our Super Fun Gender Reveal

We had such a great time letting our families in on the secret sex of the baby! We ended up going for an early ultrasound on the 23rd even though our peri appointment was on the 27th because we wanted to do a Christmas reveal. We tried to convince my family that we were not going early but they are just too good and had it figured out. But we denied it even then, they are such a hard group to surprise!! J was SO excited to tell everyone, she was like a little kid on Christmas morning, her excitement to tell everyone that we are having a son is my favorite part of the whole thing!!

On Christmas Eve we went to a party store and got a bunch of blue and green latex balloons and a matching Mylar that said "A New Little Prince" and stuffed them all in a big box that we wrapped up. We put a blue and a pink question mark on one side so everyone could make their guesses and we hid it in the car. Right before dinner J snuck outside and came in with the box and said, does anyone wasn't to play the gender reveal game? Everyone FREAKED out! My sister jumped up and down, very excited, and ordered everyone to get up from the table and come back in the family room. We had pink and blue pens and had everyone make their guess, and it was a tie!!! So we held out the pens and let our 1 year old niece choose one, she chose boy! Then we opened the box and let the balloons pop out!! Everyone was really excited, especially J, who had been waiting "alllllllll daayyyyy" to tell everyone!

At dinner we announced his name as well, everyone knew the first name, but the middle name is after my Dad. He is such an amazing man and father and so important in our lives so we wanted to honor him.

For J's family we had the same plan, balloons in the box and right before dinner she brought it out. Her family was just as excited, but totally surprised! I had put on Facebook the day before that it was 4 days till we got to find out and they totally bought it. J's sister said, You Lied On Facebook!!! LOL So we had them guess what they thought as well and they were overwhelmingly boy, I think only 2 chose girl. Even our other little one and a half year old niece ran over and smacked the boy question mark. So up go more blue balloons!! Everyone was again really excited, especially J's brother who had "guaranteed" that it was a boy as soon as he knew we were pregnant.

We surprised our besties, Momma's L&B in the same way earlier in the day and they were just as excited as everyone else was, then we got to show off his growing wardrobe in our closet. That's a whole separate post, just WAIT until you see all these cute clothes!!

We also did a fun countdown on Facebook and that too, resulted in more boys than girls with a total score of 18boy\13 girl :) Majority won!

Here is a picture from the Christmas Eve reveal, we got so excited to tell everyone again on Christmas Day that we forgot to take pics!!
